About the Richard Martin Gallery

The Richard Martin Gallery was founded in 1980 by Richard and Elaine Martin in Gosport, just half a mile from historic Portsmouth Harbour.

The gallery is stocked with 18th-20th century oil paintings, watercolours, maps, prints & books with an emphasis on marine subjects, especially views in and around Portsmouth Harbour.

Richard Martin Gallery are specialists in the works of W.L. Wyllie and Martin Snape and have held several exhibitions of their work over the last thirty years. Richard Martin also lectures on the life of Martin Snape, and his family, as well as the changing landscape of Gosport and the surrounding area that is recorded in the Snapes’ work.

Daniel Martin, Richard & Elaine’s eldest son, joined the company in 1988 to run the framing studio and is also a skilled antique frame restorer. Ben Martin, another son, joined recently after working for several years as a valuer at Dominic Winter Book Auctions.

Monday-Friday 10.30am until 5.00pm

Saurday 10.30am until 3.00pm
