Antique Frame Restoration

Daniel Martin, at the Richard Martin Gallery, has been restoring wooden and plaster frames using quality materials for twenty years.

He uses a variety of techniques and will recast decorative plaster elements to match the existing frame.

Frame restoration is often carried out at the same time as picture restoration which we also offer. The combined effect of restoring an antique oil painting along with its original ornate gilt frame can be striking.

The examples on this page show before and after images of two sections of a large early 19th century frame. The damaged areas were individually remoulded, fixed and gilded.
