Glass

We glaze pictures using high quality 2mm picture glass. We also offer non-reflective glass on which the surface has been very specially treated in order to disperse excessive reflections - useful in conservatories or highly lit rooms.

Alternatively we can frame your picture in clear plastic styrene if you don’t want to use real glass - useful when pictures are particularly large or are intended to be hung in children’s bedrooms.

Bespoke Picture Framing

Richard Martin Gallery have been providing quality picture framing to the Gosport, Fareham and Portsmouth areas for over thirty years. We construct all of our frames from hand in our studio and we only use the highest quality frames, mountboard and materials. There is nothing to compare to having your pictures framed the proper way and we think you will notice the difference.

Over the years we have framed more or less anything that can be framed including football shirts, pressed flowers, medals and cricket bats, as well as a huge quantity of oil paintings, watercolours, pastels and prints.

Choosing a frame

We offer a large selection of frames, many of which we keep in stock and display in the gallery, although should you have specific requirements we can order any frame you could imagine and have it ready within days.

We stock the best quality frames we can find. They are mostly constructed of solid wood including ash, oak, pine and ramin. Depending on the style of frame some are sold as natural wood while others have a stain or lacquer finish.

You may want an antique-style frame for a 19th century oil painting or something more contemporary for a modern poster or print. Whatever you need we are sure to have it.

The frames are cut to size using our indestructible ‘Morso’ guillotine and then the perfectly mitred edges are fixed together using a pneumatic underpinner. These are the best tools in the industry for putting frames together.

Mounts

You may want to have your picture mounted
as well as framed.

We only use museum-quality neutral pH mountboard and, while ivory or white are the most popular choices, we can supply any colour
you like.

We can also apply gold lines, watercolour washes, marbled-paper and other mount decoration all of which we do by hand.

Framed Football Shirts

If you have a football shirt that needs framing bring it in to us and we will make it look great.

The shirts are held in place by a specially designed invisible hanger and placed into a recessed frame. We can also incorporate match tickets and programmes into the display.
