William Lionel Wyllie RA (1851-1931)
London Bridge with Tower Bridge beyond, c.1925
To the left a steam tug is towing a lighter, while on the right there is much activity on the waterside wharves. The bridge depicted is 'New' London Bridge which was built to replace the original medieval structure and was opened in 1831, although this bridge itself was then replaced in the early 1970s and was shipped to Arizona and entirely rebuilt.
