On the Wind's Highway by Harold S. Vanderbilt, published 1939


First edition in the original glassine wrapper and slipcase, inscribed by the author to Everard Endt, winner of a sailing gold medal at the 1952 Summer Olympics.

Harold S. Vanderbilt famously financed and led three successful and consecutive defences of the America's Cup in the yachts Enterprise, Rainbow and Ranger.

Colour frontispiece, over 70 black & white photographic plates, six route plans and diagrams including two double-page, bound in the original pictorial cloth-covered boards, with the original glassine dust-wrapper and printed paper flaps, contained in the original card slipcase with printed paper labels, 29.4 x 22.2 cm (folio)

Condition: Internally excellent with just some light age-toning to the endpapers, the cloth binding also in excellent condition. The glassine wrapper has degraded somewhat with time on the spine and at the edges with some loss. The slipcase with some wear to the edges and corners.
