Overall size including frame 34 x 41.5 cm

On 15 July 1845 Queen Victoria and Prince Albert boarded the Royal Yacht Victoria and Albert, visible just to the right of centre, and inspected the Experimental Squadron at Spithead before it sailed for Ireland. Such squadrons were sent out in the 1830s and 1840s to test the new techniques of ship design, armament and propulsion.
