William Minshall Birchall was an American born artist working mainly in watercolour, specialising in marine subjects. He moved to Hastings in England and painted around the English Channel and the Thames Estuary. His works can be found in museums and private collections worldwide.
Solent sunbeams have been a common sight on the Solent for over 90 years and were originally designed by Alfred Westmacott as a racing dayboat that could handle the boisterous conditions of the Solent.
