Condition: The book is perfectly complete, there is a little spotting to the margins, a short tear to the folding map (reinforced with archival document tape), some cracking to the rear inner hinge, the original binding is a little faded to the spine and edges with some fraying at the extremities, but a very presentable copy of a book of 1843
An interesting and descriptive account, with observations of the people, customs, topography and history of the Island, beginning with a train journey to Southampton Pier and a pleasant evening sail across to Ryde. In the final third of the volume the tour continues through the nearby mainland with excellent descriptions of Portsmouth, Southampton and Winchester.
